Couldn’t Listen, Too Busy Talking

When one stops talking sooo much, ohhhh, the beauty of what is able to be gained by listening.

How many times have you been guilty of missing exactly what you needed to hear because you were too busy talking?

There are far too many times in my life when this has occurred. Now I can say it feels amazing to have excelled in an area that was once a barrier.

Let me be clear, I’ve never been the type to desire the mic… but when I get started about something I’m passionate about or truly believe in, my words shake hands with opportunity and the talking begins. Ha!

I’ve learned to listen and observe more than I speak. Speaking is now an investment. There’s purpose behind what is being shared, not talking to hear oneself speak.

Often times, we aren’t even aware that we are talking as exercise or to showcase what we know and it adds zero value to the moment.

I write all this to say this – There’s nothing wrong with expressing yourself, but please listen more than you speak with the intention to hear, understand and learn.

This intention can change your interactions with others. This is an investment into self. Watch how things will change for you.

Give it a try. I dare you.

And not only listen, start applying what you hear.. this area is a great place to start.
