Greetings,
It took me a moment to write this post because so much has been on my mind and schedule. However, this situation of the mental and emotional hamster wheel needed to be flipped into something positive, a way to relieve stress and “what ifs”, and because Shawn that nominated me for the Sunshine Blogger award spoke life into me. I am grateful for this. Connection. Authenticity. Truth. Writing.
Let me get on to the meat of this message. As Shawn stated so wonderfully:
The Sunshine Blogger Award recognizes the community of bloggers who promote positivity, creativity, and inspiration. Basically, a blogger that shines and brighten your day when you visit their blog.
First, thank you Shawn for your allowing me to be a written presence and connection in your life. You are appreciated.
Second, the sunshine blogger award consists of answering 11 questions posed by the nominee, and then spreading this positive energy through the nomination of others whom will answer your 11 questions. It’s a beautiful, expressive, and creative cycle. Let’s keep it going. So if you are reading this (yes, you) please consider yourself nominated and link me to your response so that I can read and be inspired by your responses.
Alrighty, let me get on to the questions that Shawn posed for me. Here are my responses:
- How has blogging changed your life?
Blogging has been a way for me to share my thoughts and randomness with others. I’ve always kept a notebook or something to get my thoughts out, to create, and to uplift others. Blogging also challenged me to somewhat get out of my introverted ways by challenging myself a bit more. I’m an observer, analyzer, and problem-solver. Blogging allows me to continue as well as receive the feedback and thoughts of others.
- How much time do you spend on your blog?
Not nearly as much as I should. I’ve been so stressed and trying to figure things out that my writing hasn’t been as frequent as I desire. If it was a way to pay the bills, I would happily write, write, and write some more. I need to do better but I need to handle my financial situation first. It’s not easy to share that. Pressing on to the next question.
- What’s the best advice you have received?
That’s a good question. It has to be something that I was told when I was younger by my mother. She stated: You can’t save the world. Since I was very young, I fought a lot, physically. It wasn’t because I liked to hurt people. It was more of.. I was fighting to help others and stand up for myself. There was a consistent surplus of bullies, people who wanted you to feel small and inferior, and people acting out their broken lifestyles on others, as well as being young and reckless. It probably didn’t help that I had a desire to be a boxer as well. Hey, practice and purpose combined. Back to the advise, my fighting was my attempt at saving the world in a way that I knew I could win and help someone. She said: You can’t save the world. I still remember that to this day, even though it’s hard sometimes. Many of my posts will show how hard it was for me to regroup after walking away from people that I could not save nor be present for because it was costing me myself. Thanks for the advice mom, nope she doesn’t know about this blog. Let’s keep it that way. *wink*
- If you could meet anyone famous, who would it be and why?
Oprah. I would want to meet Oprah because she transformed a rough start into something that helps others consistently. She impacts positive change. She has the financial tools to truly connect, build, and make a difference in millions of lives, and it’s not to take advantage of them. With my heart and values, if I had money as a tool as she does and wisdom, I would truly shake up somethings on a bigger level.
- What’s your zodiac sign?
Virgo. Explains a lot, huh. HA!
- Do you have a guilty pleasure?
Watching the Book of Eli and Seven Pounds. I watch it for perspective, for a cry of release, a prayer that connects to my heart, and so much more. Hidden Figures, Silicon Valley, and The Shack were my others. Yep, Silicon Valley (wish it were censored more).
- What’s your favorite vacation destination?
Presently, Los Angeles, California. I went for the first time this year thanks to my aunt’s kindness in purchasing a ticket so I could attend her 80th birthday party. The family love, the weather, the weather, the weather, the food, and a change of space. Oh, did I mention the weather? Oh okay, cool. I went for a week and I have been wanting to visit again since.
- What’s your favorite meal?
If I could have it right now, it would a medium rare prime rib, a couple of huge grilled lobster tails, and grilled lemon pepper catfish with a citrusy butter sauce on top with grilled shrimp atop. Goodness, goodness, goodness.
- Do you prefer coffee or tea?
Both, unsweet tea and flavored coffee. As I type this, I’m sitting on coffee with french vanilla flavoring. If I had a Starbucks gift card, I would truly have a different mix up every day.
- Netflix or Hulu?
Netflix because I don’t have Hulu… so, I can’t say about Hulu. Sorry.
- What’s your favorite holiday?
Brace yourself, I don’t have one. Maybe it’s the type person that I am. I’ve had to struggle many holidays to attempt to meet demands imposed by trends. So, I started associating with life by celebrating as much as I can when I can, and chilling on the holidays, unless my family just has a gathering that they planned. I don’t hate the holiday’s. I just wanted to relieve the pressure on my kids and myself.
Well, that’s my wrap up on my Sunshine Blogger responses.
I would like to nominate, You, the person reading this. I would also love if TeacherRia, Sa, Manessah, HeartofResilience, and BeautyBeyondBones. Oh wait, Ash!!!
Here are my questions:
- What goal have you accomplished since the start of the year that you’ve been waiting to achieve for a long time?
- What’s your go to song when you need a boost spiritually and emotionally?
- Who has made the most impact on your life, and why?
- How was your day today?
- What’s your favorite quote?
- Three words that describe my blog.
- How are you taking care of yourself physically and emotionally?
- What act of kindness were you shown that you will never forget?
- Your favorite way to spend a day off
- What does unconditional love look like for you?
- Using 10 words, describe yourself.
I look forward to viewing your responses and thanks for your time. Thanks again, Shawn. I really enjoyed this. If you enjoyed this as well, share it with someone else to uplift them and once they read it they are nominated as well. Tehehehe.
Have a great day all.
Virgo! It’s so good to see your words around here again! I, too, have been dealing with a lot of stressful things and doing some life rearranging, so I understand what you mean about not having much time to blog. Sending you big hugs and lots of love your way to help you get through. 💕
THANK YOU so much for the nomination, my friend! I was just reading along and reading along and then I saw my name and I was like “whaaaa???” Lol. I really do appreciate it and am so humbled you thought of my blog for this award. Your blog truly does deserve this award my friend and you help people more than you know. You may not be able to save the world, but you can help guide people in a better direction and by doing that… they can carry on your advice and wisdom to others. So, you can pat yourself on the back for that. 😊
Oh and I understand what you mean about coffee and tea. I believe the first time we talked, I recommended the sleepy/relaxation tea for you! I love me some flavored coffee and herbal tea! Happy Friday, my friend and CONGRATS on this award!!! 👏🙌👏
